Payment Processing & Platform Fee Disclosure

This page explains how platform and payment processing fees work on Hometown Events. It is provided for transparency and is not legal advice.

Overview

Hometown Events may charge platform fees on certain online payments processed through the platform. Stripe processing fees are charged separately by Stripe. The total amount, platform fee, and applicable payment processing fees should be shown before checkout whenever online payment is used.

Hometown Events platform fee by plan

Platform fees help support hosting, development, organizer tools, vendor application workflows, event discovery, customer support, and continued platform improvements. Paid plans reduce the platform fee on online payments.

Manual/offline payments

No online Hometown Events platform fee is collected through Stripe for manual payments.

Stripe processing fees

Stripe processing fees are charged by Stripe and are separate from Hometown Events platform fees. Stripe fees may vary based on payment method, card type, location, currency, disputes, refunds, and other Stripe rules.

  • Free: $6.00 platform fee (5% + $1.00)
  • Starter: $4.25 platform fee (3.5% + $0.75)
  • Pro: $3.00 platform fee (2.5% + $0.50)
  • Premium: $1.25 platform fee (1% + $0.25)

Actual Stripe processing fees may vary. Final payout amounts may depend on Stripe fees, refunds, disputes, taxes, and account settings.

Subscriptions

Organizer subscription plans may include reduced platform fees and additional organizer tools. See pricing for current plan details. Plan pricing and fee rates should be displayed before subscription purchase or renewal.

Refunds

Refund handling may depend on Stripe, the organizer's policy, and the type of payment. Platform fees and Stripe fees may not always be refundable. The checkout and refund flow should show the applicable policy before payment whenever possible. See also our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Disputes and chargebacks

Card disputes, chargebacks, and related fees are handled through Stripe. Organizers may be responsible for dispute-related costs depending on their connected account setup and platform terms.

Hometown Events aims to display applicable platform fees and payment processing information clearly before checkout so organizers, vendors, and attendees understand the payment breakdown.
