For schools and school groups

Schools post their events free.

Every game, concert, play, open house and fundraiser your school runs, on the same local calendar your community already checks. Verify your school and the monthly cost is nothing.

The Education plan gives verified schools everything on our Pro plan at no monthly cost. We would rather your events be on the calendar than collect a subscription from a school budget.

Private schools are not in the public school directory, so we confirm these from a document.

PTA, PTO and booster clubs

School groups usually run on personal or club email, so these go through document review.

Getting verified

Two ways in. Take the first one if you can.

Verification lasts 12 months, then we ask you to confirm you are still with the school. Staff change and so do email domains.

You have a school email

About 2 minutes

Anything issued by your school or district, including a .edu address.

  1. 1Create your accountUse whichever address you actually read. It does not have to be your school one.
  2. 2Find your schoolPick your state, then search for your school or district by name.
  3. 3Enter the code we email youThis goes to an address at your school and is the step that proves it is yours.
  4. 4You are on the Education planApproved automatically. Start posting straight away.

Only read your school mail at school? The code stays valid for a week, so you can start at home and finish on Monday.

You do not have one

2 business days

The usual route for private schools, PTA and booster clubs, and anyone whose school is not in the public directory yet.

  1. 1Create your accountAny email address works here.
  2. 2Tell us who you areGroup name, the school you support, and your role in it.
  3. 3Upload one documentStored privately and only ever seen by our review team.
  4. 4We email you the decisionApproved, or a note on exactly what else we need.
Any one of these works as proof:
  • A letter or email on school or district letterhead
  • A screenshot of your listing in the school staff directory
  • A school purchase order or invoice with your name on it
  • For a PTA or booster club, your IRS determination letter

Questions

Before you sign up.

Is this free forever, or free for a while?

Free for as long as you stay verified. There is no trial window and no card on file. We ask you to re-confirm once a year, and that is the only thing that can end it.

Do we have to sell tickets through HometownEvents?

No. Plenty of schools use the calendar and never take a payment through us. Sell tickets at the door, collect booth fees by check, or link out to whatever you already use. The platform fee only ever applies to money collected online here.

What if I cannot get to my school email from home?

That is why the code lasts a week. Sign up with whatever address you actually read, ask for the code, and enter it the next time you are at a school computer. If your district blocks outside mail entirely, send a document instead and skip the email step.

What happens when the person who signed up leaves?

Add other staff to the account before that happens, so listings are not tied to one person. At the yearly re-confirmation we contact the account email, and if nobody responds the account moves to the Free plan rather than being deleted. Your events stay up.

Can a PTA or booster club get this without the school's help?

Yes. You do not need a school email address or a letter from the principal. Your IRS determination letter, or anything showing your group is affiliated with the school, is enough for review.

What do you do with the document we upload?

It is stored privately, outside anything the public site can reach, and only the review team can open it. It is used to confirm eligibility and nothing else.

Put your school’s calendar where families are already looking.

Verify your school and you can post your first event in the next few minutes.
