1. Overview
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the DMCA. We may also remove content that violates our Acceptable Use Policy, Community Guidelines, or Terms, even if no DMCA notice is submitted.
2. Designated DMCA Agent
Our designated agent for DMCA notices can be reached at:
- Hometown Events — DMCA Agent
- Email: info@hometownevents.org
- Subject line: "DMCA Takedown Notice"
Note: For production operations, Hometown Events should register its designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office and update this page with registered agent details once registration is complete.
3. DMCA Takedown Notice Requirements
To be effective, a DMCA takedown notice must include the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent.
- Identification of the copyrighted work(s) claimed to have been infringed.
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it (e.g., listing URL, image URL, account email).
- Contact information for the complaining party, including name, address, telephone number, and email.
- A statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
4. Non-Copyright Content Removal Requests
For content that is unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, or otherwise prohibited but not a copyright claim, email info@hometownevents.org with subject "Content Removal Request" and include the URL, reason for removal, and supporting documentation. We evaluate non-DMCA requests under our Terms and moderation policies.
5. Our Content Removal Process
- We review the notice for completeness and good faith compliance with applicable requirements.
- We may contact the submitter for clarification or additional information.
- We may remove or disable access to the identified content pending review.
- We may notify the user who posted the content and provide information about counter-notification rights where applicable.
- We maintain records of notices and actions as required for DMCA safe harbor compliance.
6. Counter-Notification
If your content was removed and you believe the removal was mistaken, you may submit a DMCA counter-notification to info@hometownevents.org including:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material removed and its location before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed due to mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number.
- Consent to jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district of your address (or New York if outside the United States), and acceptance of service of process from the person who submitted the original notice.
We may restore removed content after the statutory waiting period unless the copyright owner files an action seeking a court order.
7. Repeat Infringer Policy
It is our policy to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. We may also terminate users who repeatedly submit invalid notices or counter-notices in bad faith.
8. Misrepresentation
Any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
9. Safe Harbor Statement
Hometown Events is an online service provider that hosts user-submitted content. We do not pre-approve all submissions. Our policies are intended to support DMCA safe harbor eligibility while protecting users and the public from unlawful or abusive content.
